R&D qualification

Dear Costumers!

Please be informed of the change in the qualification of R&D activities from 1st of September 2023.

In June 2023, an amendment to Act LXXVI of 2014 on Scientific Research, Development and Innovation was published, according to which from 1st of September 2023, the qualification of R&D activities will be carried out by a body designated by the Government.

The legislative changes in the field will abolish the official procedure and generalise the expert procedure in order to work more efficiently and eliminate duplication. Responsibilities and powers for issuing expert opinions are transferred to the National Research, Development and Innovation Office.

In the light above, applications for R&D qualification and requests for expert opinions can be submitted to the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office until 31st of August 2023. The documents received so far will be assessed by the Office on the basis of the current legislation, but after that date it will no longer be possible to submit such requests to the HIPO, which will be the competence of the NRDI.
